A particular focus for us is advocacy in the Criminal Justice System.
We have been spectacularly successful in expert witness work with a range of young people with Dyspraxia and Asperger syndrome, who, not having their needs met within main stream schools, have struggled to make sense of adulthood.
We have helped draw up sections of the new Courts Equal Treatment Bench Book which assists the judiciary in understanding a range of special needs and disabilities.
We are also consulting to the newly formed Her Majesty’s Courts Service (HMCS) with advice on special needs and diversity.
We have visited the Council of Europe, the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg and The European Parliaments in Brussels and Strasbourg and envisage that advocacy in Europe will be necessary to pursue and disseminate our work internationally.
